Latest news from the National Redress Scheme – April 2019

This newsletter provides the latest updates on the National Redress Scheme (the Scheme), including the Easter and ANZAC Day operational periods for the Scheme.

A new version of the redress application form is now available

The updated application form includes a question asking applicants if they would like their impact statement (Part 3) shared with the relevant institutions. Minor changes have also been made to provide clearer guidance to assist applicants to complete the form.

Applications made on the previous form will still be accepted. For people who applied on the previous form, Part 3 of their application will not be shared with the relevant institutions unless the person provides consent to the Scheme. A person can do this by calling the Scheme on 1800 737 377 or when the Scheme next contacts them to discuss their application. You can find the new form on the Scheme website.

Easter and ANZAC Day Processing

The National Redress Scheme is operating across the holiday period with the exception of public holidays on the 19th, 22nd and 25th of April 2019, during which the Scheme’s phone lines will be closed. Some support services will be closed over Easter and ANZAC Day period. Some will remain open which are:

Services will advertise alternative contact details on their answering machines or through website/social media pages.
If you are already receiving support from a Redress Support Service they will be able to provide information of their opening hours or provide you with strategies or a care plan over this time period.
