Share your views on the end of the National Redress Scheme and the future of redress

An independent review of the National Redress Scheme began on 1 July 2026.

Anyone can have their say, but the review particularly wants to hear from victims and survivors of child sexual abuse. This includes victims and survivors who have applied to the National Redress Scheme and those who have not applied.

The eighth year review comes at a crucial point in time, with applications to the National Redress Scheme closing in less than 12 months’ time on 30 June 2027. Under the current law, the National Redress Scheme will end on 1 July 2028.

The terms of reference are the topics that the review has asked about. These topics are broad, but there is a particular focus on the following:

  • How can the National Redress Scheme ensure victims and survivors are aware of the scheme before applications close?
  • How can the National Redress Scheme ensure that all applicants receive an outcome before the end of the scheme?
  • How can future support systems and services for victims and survivors of child sexual abuse be improved?

You can have your say by making a written submission or completing the online form on the review’s website. Feedback can be provided anonymously.

Public feedback to the review closes on Friday, 31 July 2026.
